Brides - Have More Say in What You Want for Your Bridal Shower

By Angela Crown

Friends and family enjoy Bridal showers because it is a last chance (along with the bachelorette party) to have time with the Bride while she is still single. The Bride normally has it planned for her and it is not always what she might want it to be.

Quite often there is not a lot of thought that goes into a Bridal shower, it goes along and things happen as they happen. It is a hard time for the Bride though as quite often there is an uncomfortable mix of family and friends, with friends finding it funny to give gifts of shocking panties while the Bride's grandmother is watching. The gifts are a weird mix of gags, risque and practical such as a set of glassware! This happens because the Bride has not sat down with the organizer and set a few ground rules for the event.

The organizer is usually the Bride's best friend and the Maid of Honor which means she would be quite happy to follow any wishes the Bride has. The Bride still wants it to be fun but not uncomfortable for her or any of her guests. This is an opportunity for guests to help the Bride in her new life with gifts that are of use.

Guests need to accept that if the Bride has asked that gifts be family friendly, this shower is not the time to offer up some crotchless panties. A lot of the time friends do not even get the Bride's size correct so even if some of it is wearable she can't because it is too small or too big!

As part of her job as organizer the Maid of Honor should mention gifts that are on the couple's wedding register; though it would be impolite to mention this in wedding invitations it is certainly acceptable to do for a Bridal Shower. She also needs to know from the Bride whether this is an adult only party or whether people can bring their children along. A lot of people want to be able to totally relax and let go which can not be done of their are babies or children there. Whichever way the Bride decides the Maid of Honor makes sure this message is given to all those guests invited that have children. - 30520
